In 2001 she developed Parkinson's disease and subsequently had to retire from drawing manga. After having brain surgery in 2008, she made a return to the manga world with Nurse Station - Kanketsuhen.


Currently she is writing a comic essay about her life with Parkison's for Bunkasha's "Hontou ni nakeru Hanashi" magazine.
