Segami's first manga was published by Shogakukan in 1996. He went on to do a few other small projects, including two short stories entitles "Kagetora" in 2001 and 2002. The character proved to be popular with fans, so Segami began his first ongoing series, Kagetora, with Kodansha in 2003. The series ended with 11 volumes.

The author is friends with Arakawa, Hiromu.
