Usually someone who's more used to listening to him has to serve as a sort of interpreter for him. Kirimaru, who's in the Library Committee with him, is one of the people who often end up doing this. His default facial expression is a blank face that makes him come across as sullen. However, on the rare occasion that he's angry or otherwise worked up, his expression changes to a creepy smile accompanied by an eerie laugh. Because of this most the younger students are scared of him, though in reality he's actually very kind and thoughtful. Shinbei's little sister Kameko has a bit of a crush on him.
