Lulu

Lulu is an elderly doctor living in the country of Castoria. She is a gruff but wise woman who doesn’t have a very high opinion of apothecaries. She first encounters Argent, Soda, and Popola when they’re selling their wares in the market. She steals a bag full of their supplies when Argent is busy picking up some money she pretended to drop. Argent asks for her help in finding a stone to detoxify his body and she agrees, but only under the condition that he and Soda work for her for three months because her previous assistant quit. She also knows Argent is a Basilisk. At first their relationship is rocky considering Lulu is nearly his opposite in everything, but as the story progresses they come to a better understanding of one another. Argent learns much under her tutelage and finds a possible answer to detoxifying his body. Lulu later reveals that she was once a Basilisk herself, now detoxified, and explains to Argent that she had been pregnant and gave birth to a clot of poison that emptied her body of toxins. She gives him a crystallized fragment of that clot, telling him to use it somehow to detoxify himself.
