When she was younger, she was taken hostage in an attempted robbery. Her father killed the robber and was sent to prison. She entered Seidoukan Academy under the care of her uncle, Toudou Kouichiro. Kirin's main objective behind entering Seidoukan Academy is to release her father from jail.
