Even though she is not able to play with the school team during official matches, Risa is devoted to sports, as evident from her vigorous training both with the team and off-season. She feels discontent when she realises that she has lost weight, believing that it was in fact her muscle mass. Despite this, she continues her usual routine with the hope to achieve results in the future. She is 172 centimeters tall.

Although she may appear as "one of the guys" due to her boyish hairstyle and behaviour around her teammates, Risa is a self-aware person who tends to keep to herself. She is not very good at communicating with people she doesn't know well, as she has a tendency to become anxious and uneasy, especially around girls. Still, her friendship with her three teammates, Kusumoto, Hanamura, and Moriguchi, is significant and relatively profound.
