Yuuta Nonomiya
Nonomiya Nono's twin brother. Yuuta has been subjected to child abuse by his father from a young age due to his lack of any talent in ski jumping. His father would get angry every time Nono won in ski jumping, and would start beating him up. Because of this, Yuuta looked at Nono with unreadable eyes. He felt sad that he couldn't improve his jumps and that, because women cannot compete in the olympics, his father didn't praise Nono for her jumps, but pushed Yuuta to jump instead. He tells his girlfriend, Sora, "Because I am no good, I robbed her of ski jumping" Yuuta was exceptionally talented in painting. His teacher urged him to pursue art as a career, but Yuuta refused because he was ski jumping for his father's sake. Every single day, even on holidays, Yuuta practiced and trained. When both of them were 14, their father threatened to kill Yuuta if he didn't pass the preliminaries. After Yuuta jumped in the Hokkaido Regionals and got 85th place, their father realized his mistake and fell to his knees, apologizing to them. They later found him trying to commit suicide by hanging himself. Their father was then taken to the hospital, his life wasn't in danger because they found him so soon but there was a chance that he wouldn't wake up. However, mumbling in his coma, their father said "Well done, thank you for the gold medal, thank you, good job, Yuuta". Of course, he was just dreaming, but something inside of Yuuta snapped. He wrote a note for Nono telling her to take his place and win a gold medal in the olympics. He then took Nono's uniform and jacket and set himself and a shed on fire, killing himself. With tears in his eyes and the shed burning around him, his dying line was "I've always wanted to live life through a painting"
