Yoko Kamio
Kamio Yoko is most famous for the manga series Boys Over Flower which used to be a big hit within the shoujo genre at the time and was adapted into dramas in different Asian countries. The female protagonists in her works are "tough girls" who, in the times when feminism is yet to conquer Japan, stand on their feet and do things their ways. Readers will be immediately attracted by the spirit, perseverance, and independence of the heroines as they advance through the exciting plot.
See all 6 titlesGirls Do Sports
This collection exclusively praises female athletic spirit which seems to be unjustly neglected by the world of male-dominated sports manga. These girls are physically fit, strong-willed, ambitious and absolutely talented. Beniiro Heoro's Nobara said: "Rather than being in love, or being like a girl, I love the white ball." Unlike the long-lived stereotype depicting sporty girls as hopeless romantics, guys fall for girls like Nobara because of their unique charm.
