Twenty-nine years after Tokyo was established as the capital of Japan, a series of bizarre and mysterious crimes started happening in the city of Kawara. A mysterious flame demon, a dark red princess, a fireflies seller, and puppeteers also appeared near the place of the accident. The perpetrator might be spirits or human's dark side. Hirakawa Shintaro, a journalist, is investigating those mysterious cases with his innkeeper friend Manzo's help. Their investigation to find the perpetrator brings them to the intriguing inside of the Takatsukasa family.
