Description
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure tells the story of the Joestar family, a family whose various members discover they are destined to take down supernatural foes using unique powers that they possess. The manga is split up into 8 unique parts, each following the story of one member of the Joestar family, who inevitably has a name that can be abbreviated to the titular "JoJo". The first six parts of the series take place within a single continuity, while parts 7 and 8 take place in an alternate continuity.
- Vol.1-5 Part 1: Phantom Blood - Jonathan Joestar
Jonathan Joestar, a young wealthy son living in Victorian England, has his life destroyed by a recently orphaned Dio Brando, who was taken in by Jonathan's father. Dio, who plots to drive Jonathan to insanity and inherit the Joestar fortune, becomes an unstoppable vampire that Jonathan must fight.
- Vol.5-12 Part 2: Battle Tendency - Joseph Joestar
Takes place in the 1930s, and follows the misadventures of Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan Joestar, as he fights vampires and ancient super beings with some help from a cybernetically-enhanced Nazi and an Italian man he has a lot in common with.
- Vol.12-28 Part 3: Stardust Crusaders - Kujou Joutarou
The year is 1989 and Joseph's grandson - Jotaro Kujo - has been imprisoned for counts of street fighting. Jotaro has been possessed by a spiritual entity known as a stand, these stands are a physical manifestation of a user's energy and provide their user with an immense, and dangerous, power. Joseph believes that this animation of power is a result of the family's rival by heritage - a centurion vampire by the name of Dio Brando. This man's presence sparks the adventure, leading the men to seek him out in Egypt and finally conclude their battle by blood.
- Vol.29-47 Part 4: Diamond wa Kudakenai (Diamond Is Unbreakable) - Higashikata Jousuke
The coastal town of Morioh is plagued by the "Bow and Arrow," an ancient artifact which manifests latent stand abilities in criminals and ordinary folk alike. At the same time as they are dealing with the huge influx of stand users—both good and bad—in Morioh, high schooler Jousuke Higashikata and his friends are searching for the culprit of a series of homicides.
- Vol.47-63 Part 5: Vento Aureo - Giorno Giovana (Major antagonist Dio Brando's son)
Set in 2001 Italy, the story follows Giorno Giovanna, son of DIO, and his dream to rise within the Neapolitan mafia and defeat the boss of Passione, the most powerful and influential gang, in order to become a "Gang-Star" and make the world a better place. With the aid of a capo and his men, as well as his own resolve, Giorno sets out to fulfill his goal of absolving the mafia of its corruption.
- Vol.64-80 Part 6: Stone Ocean - Jolyne Kujou
Set near Port St. Lucie, Florida, the story follows Jolyne Cujoh after her incarceration in Green Dolphin Street Prison. Her father Jotaro soon comes to visit and informs her that a Stand user named Jongalli A, a disciple of Dio's, framed her so that he could kill her in prison, and urges escape. Jolyne's anger at her father, who has been absent for most of her life, is interrupted by a double attack by Jongalli A's Stand, Manhattan Transfer, and another mysterious Stand named White Snake. Fearing for the safety of her father, Jolyne gathers information and friends as she manages her own survival in the prison turned mad-house.
