Renowned novelist Hideyuki Kurata is the author of R.O.D., Gun X Sword, El Hazard and Battle Athletes. A native of Okayama, Ibaraichi and a member of "Studio Orphee," Kurata-sensei is also an accomplished screenwriter: He's written such anime as Excel Saga, the Hellsing OAV, and Magical Girl Pretty Sammy.
